PINKYSLANG HAS STARTED FUNDRAISING ON KICKSTARTERNew media project aims to become Urban Dictionary for hand gestures and sign languages
To make matters more complicated, hand gestures - including over 150 sign languages - are used all throughout the world, but their meanings are different wherever you go. pinkyslang.com is like Urban Dictionary for hand gestures. The project has several key goals, namely: 1. Make hand gestures and sign languages accessible and searchable 2. Foster awareness of non-verbal and cross-cultural communication 3. Create a vibrant online community that encourages cross-cultural communication as well as communication between hearing and hard-of-hearing people from around the globe FUNDRAISINGThe current fundraising round on Kickstarter will enable developers Monkey vs. Banana LLC to turn their existing proof-of-concept website into a comprehensive, accessible and searchable reference of hand gestures, including sign languages, from all around the world. Interested parties can support the project by going to http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/3jt/pinkyslang-speak-with-your-hands and making a pledge.
